Getting Started With Survey Marketing


Quick Tutorial to Get you Started:


  1. Access your SimplyCast account by logging in at SimplyCast.com.

  2. Once inside the Application, select Survey by clicking on the icon on the left side of the screen and then the Survey Dashboard

  4. From the Survey Marketing Dashboard you can see all of your projects and toggle back and forth to view:


    1. Summary of all campaigns (this is your home dashboard)

    2. Summary is also where you create a New Survey Campaign by clicking Create New Project.

  6. To start a new campaign without an existing Contact List, choose Create New Project from the Summary tab.

  7. You will now be prompted to enter a project name. Use something that will help you remember specifically how this Survey Campaign will be used. Click next.

  8. Here you will design your online survey. Select the type of question you want from the panel on the right. You can choose from:

    1. Text - This tool is used for Text answers. i.e. What is your name?


    2. Paragraph - This tool is used for short-answer questions, i.e. Do you have any comments?


    3. Select One - For when you would like the user to make a single choice. i.e. What is your favourite? Please choose one


    4. Select Many - For when you would like the user to choose one or more options. i.e. What do you like? Check all that apply


    5. Matrix - For when you have a varying degree of opinion. I.e. How much do you like Lunch? Not Very Much 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 A Lot


    6. Info Box - To give the user a better idea of what to do, typically used for instructions


    7. Page break -Use this to add page breaks in the survey


    8. Copy Question - This can be used to duplicate a previously designed question

  9. When completed, click Next Step to save and continue. You can click Clear to start over and save at any point.

  10. Now it's time to configure the survey. Start by giving the survey a title and check off Show Welcome Message to add a welcome message to your survey. Next, fill out the Thank you message, and indicate whether or not you would require a Captcha to prevent automatic tools from participating. If you would like the survey to run forever, leave the end date field blank, otherwise specify when you would like the survey to end. If you would like a set number of participants, define the number in the Participant Limit field. The final check box determines whether or not each question is presented on a separate page. When configured, click Next.

  11. Here you will preview your survey and select a template and theme. Click next.

  12. Choose the method of distribution. The two types of distribution supported by the SimplyCast application are:


    1. Distribute Your Survey Using a Web Link: A link will be provided to access the survey.



    2. Distribute Your Survey Via Email: Use the built-in editor to design a header, body, and footer for the email to distribute the survey. You can take advantage of the Save function if you don't have time to complete the email in one sitting. Be sure to take advantage of the Survey Link option in the editor to include a link to the survey. When complete, click Next.

  13. Test your message and configure it to send out. Choose an appropriate Email Subject and click Test Now. An email should come to the specified test address below. Once you're sure this is what you want, fill in the address information to the right and verify it's correct. Select which Contact List will be designated for the survey by checking the boxes. When complete, choose the time to distribute, and click Next.



  14. You have additional options to choose from like if you want to disable the web link or to disable sender customization. There is also social media integration where your survey can be added to Twitter and other social media sites. Just click the options you want and hit Next.



  15. The Cross-check page will point out anything that could hurt your campaign from sending and allow you to go back and fix it. Click next to send.


Viewing Survey Reports

  1. To view Survey Reports from the Survey Dashboard click View Survey Reports

  2. A list of your events will appear. The following statistics are displayed for each event:


    1. Project Name - The name of the Survey


    2. Date - The date composed


    3. Email Subject - Subject of the Email Distributed


    4. List - The distribution list chosen


    5. Sent - Whether or not it has been sent


    6. Status - Status of the Survey


    7. Opens - How many emails were opened


    8. Views - How many users viewed the HTML version.


  3. You will also notice at the top you view different time frames and statuses. They are as follows:


    1. 7 Days (Default)


    2. 1 Month


    3. 2 Months


    4. 3 Months


    5. Pending/


    6. Web Link Surveys


  4. Further, you can sort results by Project Name, Date, Email Subject, or Status.
